DISTRACTIONS...

Yesterday afternoon I was headed to my mother's job. Once I turned on the street to get there, I looked to my right and there was a huge black and white wasp flying in the car.  Startled, I swerved over into the oncoming lane and swerved back (the person in the oncoming lane probably thought i was crazy)!  I think what scared me the most was that it remained in the front with me. I also thought to myself, "How long has this scary thing been in the car with me?! Where did it come from?!" I realized that I really had to calm down or I could REALLY hurt myself.  So as soon as I pulled into the parking lot, I took the very first parking space, threw the car in Park, and jumped out of the car!  I believe it got out with me. Well, that was the first time I had ever encountered a wasp in the car while I was driving.
Now I have thought about the many "surprise" distractions that we as Christians encounter everyday and sometimes when we are weak in our Faith we let them get to us and drive us insane. Instead of following God and thinking of Him with peace, we try to take matters into our own hands and panic when it doesn't go right.
If there was a car very close to me at the time I swerved over, I probably wouldn't be here to type this out. So I just felt like it was a wake up call to remember Him in our time of troubles instead of panicking everytime something comes our way.
What would have been your reaction to a wasp in the car? How does this entry relate to the distractions in your life?

TO LAUGH OR NOT TO LAUGH...

You know...
I have been questioning myself and others about this topic for awhile.  There are people who are major fans of the animated tv shows 'Simpsons' and 'Family Guy'.  I mean, I myself find humor in some parts.  However, at one time both of them used God/Christ as a humorous figure.  When I saw it I didn't know whether to laugh or feel awful about it.  So then I began to ask friends from UT and they said that, "they would laugh anyway because its just humor."  I even had one friend that said some people take those type of things too seriously...its not that big of a deal.  What I got from all of them is that they are trying to 'borderline' the situation.  It's kind of a lukewarm thing. Its almost an attitude of God you know we love you but man that was kinda funny. I told myself that if I were Jesus and died for someone and then they laughed at me because of a joke that someone made...it would hurt badly.  What is your HONEST opinion? If you saw someone make a joke on t.v. about your Lord and Savior...would you laugh? chuckle? smile?

Personally: I want the people that read this to pray for me and those who find that humorous.  I am trying to get away from the idea of finding anything like that funny.  It has been hard to pull away from because I didn't get a wake up call until a few mos. ago about 'not laughing'.  Let me know what you all think!!!!

AFTER BIBLE STUDY...A RACE WITH STEPHEN!

I thank God for the mercy that he has bestowed upon me, especially last night!  After Bible study, Brandon, Sherika, and I wanted to go to IHOP.  Well on Moore Rd. we thought that we saw Jeremy (guardian angel) headed home but it turns out it was some tall red head from north carolina...but THEN (3 secs later) all of a sudden I see a car that looks like stephen and elizabeths car! So i said, "Well there is stephen and elizabeth! Brandon catch up with them!" So when we finally did, it was them!!! We waved delightfully as did they! But little did we know within an instant, brandon became wreckless and was swerving over into stephen's lane! Then he got out of it and started leaning over into the oncoming traffic's lane! OMGosh! As funny as it was...we were in the hands of a laughing/crazy driver which  could sometimes lead to a disaster! Well we're not done! Brandon was up ahead of stephen so the next thing I hear is stephen's engine "revving" up in order to catch us.  Obviously that triggered Brandon and to him it was Stephen asking for a challenge.  Within 2 seconds of hearing stephen's engine, Brandon shot off and was hitting 60  with "competition and excitement" burning in his eyes.  As he boasts about his wonderful getaway, sherika explains to Brandon that stephen was trying to catch up and say Hello.  I remember sherika laughing hysterically about THE LOOK on stephen's face when Brandon drove almost out of sight!  As shocked and embarrassed as he was about this news, Brandon slowed down so Stephen could finally catch up!  Stephen, Elizabeth, and the kids were extremely surprised by this wreckless driving that Brandon had performed while sherika and I laughed until our stomachs hurt! "Does yo mama know you drive like this?!" Were stephen's words which we will never forget!  "You guys better buckle up!" said Elizabeth! I personally could never imagine trying to race my youth pastor on a 35 mph road (or any road) but as you can see Brandon had something else on his mind.  Whenever you are trying to catch up to brandon please call and let him know ahead of time...because if not, he'll be gone in a FLASH!

Hey Everyone!
I meant to write this yesterday, but I'm gonna tell ya today! These past few days I have been cooking omelettes! I put bacon and sausage in mine. However, I have to cook the bacon and sausage first! U know that means...grease popping time.  I am soooo scared of grease i try to stay away from the oven, while I cook it. So what i did was i thought about Jesus and him not allowing other things to hurt me.  Then I noticed that it did not hurt as bad.  So I have realized that the more I put Jesus into my life, the safer I will feel.  If anyone wants an omelette, give me a holler b/c im pretty good! LOL Loves ya.

a friend

I have a friend who I care for so much! He is one of those people that is a thinker, has an opinion, and is hard to convince otherwise after he has made up his mind.  Two months ago, he said I am a Christian but I do not believe all that the Bible says.    He believes that there is something else out there (world) and that he wants to find it.  He said that it is a life journey.  He says that he loves God and that he loves Jesus, but there is another way out there.  As soon as he said that, I was stunned.  I couldnt believe what I had just seen on the computer screen.  As soon as he said that I thought about John 14:6 that says, " I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."  If he is seeking something else then its not the way of Jesus and the Father and it worries me.  My friend then said, uh oh staysh thinks differently of me now. Well the truth was that I began to.  It was a shock because the person that I had respected and  loved for his opinions and personality took a different toll on me. I did not want to say, yes I do think differently of you, but then I didn't want to say well I agree with what you say.  So I said no I do not think any different of you but I am going to keep praying that you make the right decision. He said ok.  So now I still think about it everyday.  I believe that God has made him my friend for a reason, but I need to find out where I am at with God.  I want to be able to show God's love through me and if I dont then what will he see?  What would you do in this situation? How would you respond?
